The B-52's are back with an updated take on their quirky New Wave sound on their first new recording in sixteen years, called 'Funplex.'

The tune is featured on the band's forthcoming album of the same name, due March 25. Spinner will have an exclusive early listening party for 'Funplex' beginning March 18. Until then, take a listen to the album's first single and stay tuned for the B-52's upcoming '08 tour.

I've always liked this band's music, but this song sounds tired and worn out. You can't put party sounds in the background and hope for another Love Shack. Sixteen years since their last recording, and they can't come up with something better than this? How disappointing. One can only hope the rest of the songs on this album are better.

Anyone who thinks that someone between 18 and 25 is going to be into this, is completely out of touch. Sounds dated as hell, and 40-50 year olds buy very few CD's.

The B-52's were total 80's! There WAS life BEFORE Love Shack, people! Love Shack was great, but come on! There's a lil album called "The B-52's" with some gems called Rock Lobster, Planet Claire, 52 Girls, Give Me Back My Man, Dance This Mess Around (my personal fav!) and another album "Wild Planet". (Sheesh...I'm dating myself...I said ALBUM!) Anyway, I can't believe how many people act like Love Shack was their first album! The B-52's represent fun times and pure fun dance music!! They're awesome and its GREAT to see them back! I'll be definitely checking them out in concert again.

In response to one of the comments below, the B-52's are TOTAL 80's, txsweethart97. There WAS life before Love Shack! There was this lil' album called "The B-52's" which came out in late '79/early '80 that had some GREAT songs -- Planet Claire, 52 Girls, Dance This Mess Around (my personal fav!), and of course, Rock Lobster, to name a few. And another 80's album "Wild Planet". So to say they're really not the 80's is a shame. The B-52's represent fun times and fun dance music at its best!!

Seriously?! HOW ON EARTH is this not just 80's music in the late 2000's?! Nothing about this seems "updated" to me. Don't get me wrong -- I love them, & the song is great...but don't go trying to sell this as a new sound, because it's SOOOO not.

Hey phantomblot,
Wrong!! The B-52's are an eighties band. Hello! Remember Rock Lobster- that was around 1982. So was Quiche Lorraine. You did'nt follow the band.
