When this politically charged hip-hop group is mentioned, LL Cool J is likely the furthest thing from anyone's mind. Yet LL's then-sidekick E. Love was Chuck D's inspiration when he drew PE's infamous crosshairs.

I love the PE logo! It is no doubt one of the best band logo's ever. I remember back in 1991 during my Elementry school years i wore a PE logo medallion to school and was immediately told to remove it because i was told it was glorifying killing cops. I was like screw you, that's a soldier not a cop in the crosshairs. Well the guy took my PE medallion until the end of that school day, and told me to never wear it again. But that didn't stop me. A month later i returned with the PE tour jacket with a huge PE logo in yellow, black, and white on the back, and on the front. hahaha! The guy didn't say anything but stand there and look stupid..PE and the infamous target logo will always rule! and yes i still have the medallion after 17 years.

The truth is, that is neither a cop nor a soldier but a B-boy. Chuck always felt that young Black males were the real Public Enemy #1.
