Lead guitarist Ace Frehley came up with the logo, which first appeared on the band's second album, 'Hotter Than Hell.' Frehley's masterstroke was rendering the final two letters in Kiss as stylized lightning bolts.

Hey dipshit,The KISS logo first appeared on the debut album KISS in 1973. the logo was done in rhinestones and has appeared on EVERY KISS album the band has ever released.

WRONG! Spinner is correct, The KISS logo on the debut album was just block lettering. After the second album was released with the new artwork and the band became more popular, the debut album was re-released with the new artwork.

I have the first printing of the first album (without KISSING TIME ). It has the KISS logo in rhinestones. The same KISS logo used for 35 years (except on some printings of UNMASKED ).I have that baby framed on my wall. I'm looking at the lightning bolt SS right now. Facts don't lie. Simple mistake I hope, but keep in mind, KISS fans are very personal about incorrect information.

"You want the best and you got the best". Of course this has got to be in the top 5! They have one of the most recognizable logos of all time. Look at all the marketing that has come from this. Kids of all ages gather 'round at an event they execute. Be it 5 or 50. Who could turn down an event like this. They project POWER and have a full gathering to back that up!

Ace came up with the IDEA of the lightning bolt "SS" but it was actually PAUL STANLEY that created and perfected the the design and KISS logo we all know, as mentioned in KISS: The Early Years and in Kiss and Make-up.

The Logo has been there since their first concert. they had them on the flyer as Wicked Lester and Ace took a marker to it with the same lightning bolt S's the continue to show today. it did appear on the first album in the rhinstones and i think it should have done better than 4th
