Hot Chip Cool Out at the Interface

British disco-punk outfit Hot Chip make no bones about their new direction on the band's latest album, 'Made in the Dark.' "We kind of lived out some rock fantasies a bit more this time around, but it's by no means a straight rock record," vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Alexis Taylor tells Spinner. "There are quiet piano ballads one second and kind of house tunes the next."

While the band is known for their uptempo dance party performances, Hot Chip switched it up at the Interface, showcasing the depth of their songwriting with a mellowed-out take on the current floor-filler 'Ready for the Floor.'

"Felix is playing a synth for the first time and he's controlling all of the rhythm parts using completely different equipment from before, he's brought more of a soulful vibe to what we're doing live," Taylor says. "He's texturally a bit more interesting and sophisticated than he maybe was before."
