Age gap makes me nervous

I’M scared of what will happen next between me and a guy at work who is 10 years older than me. The stuff he says makes me think he wants more to happen but I’m not ready.
I’m 17 but everyone thinks I look much older. I have to admit I do use this sometimes to my advantage.
I recently started a new job and I’m getting a lot of attention which I’m not used to. There is this dashy guy who started emailing me and then sending texts.
Then we started eating together in the canteen. I didn’t realize how old he was at first but he was OK with my age when he found out. He is really cute and sweet and I get butterflies when I see him.
Don’t get me wrong. He isn’t my first boyfriend and I am aware there’s an age difference but he started telling me how much he liked me and we went out on a couple of dates.
Nothing happened until the fourth date when we kissed and it was lovely. We hold hands a lot and other things but I’m worried about what will happen next. I think he wants things to go further.
He isn’t forcing me and I don’t think he ever would but I’m not ready to do anything else and I don’t know how to tell him. I don’t want to push him away or chicken out.
To make matters worse my mum is convinced I will do something stupid with him. She knows about him and how old he is. I wouldn’t lie to her.
She has met him and I know she’s worried. She mentions it every possible chance and it’s really getting to me.
DOCTOR SAYS: You know how you feel and what you want. All you lack is the confidence to say so and know you are in the right.
It is up to you when you feel comfortable about having sex and it shouldn’t happen until you are ready.
When there’s a quiet moment talk to this guy. Tell him that you want a proper relationship before things become sexual.
