If assholes can be considered "beautiful" then, yes, Frankie was a thing of beauty.

Noone will remember your name, but he's still famous decades later. So the asshole thing must be working for him. I'd rather be as successful an asshole as he was, than a polite failure.

Thing of beauty,... a heck of a voice Franky boy had. I'm ashamed cause I'm part Italian and don't have any of his music sitting around.

You should be ashamed for being Italian in general. GROWING UP GHADI!!!!!

I have to agree.

His VOICE was a thing of beauty. HE was a piece of crap.

Nobody catches the sarcasm of his remark? That kind of comment wouldn't cut it in his day & age if he was serious, men actually had an identity back then that didn't include fitting "beauty" into. He was a corrupt legend but legend nonetheless...

What made him famous? The mafia.
Who were his biggest fans? The mafia.
Whatever. He's dead anyway.

Frank was the #1 artist of the 20th Century, having been a star for 7 decades. He may not have been the nicest guy in the world, but his talent was monumental. Not a day goes by without my listening to a Sinatra CD. He was truly the Chairman of the Board.

Frank knew what he was and the things he'd done. He held NO illusion as to what he was. This is Frank sarcasm at its finest. probably in response to the interviewers fawning or diefing him. Thats gets old after 70 years. and it ruins lives. I can just see Frank listening to this interviewer go on and on about how wonderful he is and what a pleasure it is to meet him and yada yada yada. To which Frank replies, " Yeah, I'm a thing of beauty". Hilarious.

To #2 Martin: I'd rather be a failure, at least I would have true friends.
A polite successat 3-01-2008
If being polite constitutes failure, then I'm in trouble.

And yet he could not hold a candle to Mel Torme.
