On This Date in 1932: Johnny Cash is born as J.R. Cash to Ray and Carrie Cash, in Kingsland, Ark.

The Almanac Advises for February 26: "While black clothing is strongly associated with mourning, it is also often worn by serious musicians, such as in the classical field. In many cultures, it is the color choice of the judiciary, as those who pass judgment on other are usually garbed in black. It is also the favorite hue of anti-establishment types, such as punks and anarchists."
