    Stage Name Stories

We're Adam Ant about it: A good stage name is Tre Cool. Here's our list of rock 'n' roll nicknames almost as much fun as Izzy Stradlin.

    Bono

    Born: Paul David Hewson

What's in a Name: Supposedly named after a Dublin hearing-aid shop called Bono Vox -- Latin for "good voice." His U2 bandmate the Edge got his own nickname from either his sharp facial features or his fearlessness of heights, depending on which version you believe.

Bono............You like governments like Cuban C omunist Government because you have dollars in your packets and you live in a free society wwhere you can do whatever you want, also, your children have a glass of milk to drink every morning and you don't have to live being afraid of everything..........lack of of freedom, repression, discrimination for your thoughts, feelings, and political ideas.Bono......................if you like systems like in Communist countries, leave your benefits, and go there.......if you are a good human being.........and you are ready to lost your benefits, your liberty ...........and everything. If not, shut up!!!!!!!Coward!

I think Bono is an example of how to put celebrity to work, besides filling tabloids stories..

The fact that he uses his celebrity status to bring attention to humanitarian issues is actually very admirable...

I consider him one of the world leaders of today, couse he has helped to raise awarness in issues that concern us all...

Talent always raises admiration, but compromising and giving back...raises respect. Big Time!

Celebrities can spend their time living in the lap of luxury during their down times. I don't knock someone who tries to do something good for the rest of mankink. I dont' get the need by many to denegrate the good others try to do. I am sure he could find a ton of things to do with his family, instead appearing at charitable events, appealing to countries to help with AIDS epidemic, poverty, 3rd world loans and other things. He does more I think in his spare time than most do with time they are supposed to working. He seems to have a good heart. Bless anyone who tries to do something good in a world that seems to be filled with so much darkness.

Bono heado. This guy has said he thinks his music will save the planet. What a joke and what a turd. Typical guilt-ridden wealthy musician who sold out, but projects an air of respectability. Of all the turds, he is the stinkiest.

Bono has done more than any other celebrity, be it music, movies, royality or any other form. He didn't say his music would save the planet. I don't know of another 'famous' person that spent a month in Ethiopia helping the local people and living in the same conditions as them. He could spend the rest of his life doing NOTHING, but chooses to spend it trying to make the world a better place for our future generations. And he makes great rock N roll music to boot!!!

I have loved Bono ( and U2 especially "Sunday Bloody Sunday") since I was in high school in the late 80's.
I can not understand why so many of you choose to be extremely horrible toward your fellow man it truly tears at my heart!
Life is too short get over your idiosyncrasies.

Anyone who cannot recognize both the talent of someone like Bono and U2 and the humanitarian generosity they demonstrate should be too ashamed to even post a comment here. He is one of the few true heroes living and working today. Thank God for people like him. Even if I didn't like his music--and I do--I would support it because of the selfless way he spends his profits to help those in need, regardless of their color or creed. Unlike so many celebrities who spread their wealth (and too few do), he does it to truly help and not simply raise his profile for personal gain. I don't care what his nickname is. You who trash him obviously should be called something we can't print here.
