Singer's Tunes Tooted by Toothbrush

While you weren't looking, the erstwhile puppy-love hit machine Neil Sedaka celebrated 50 years in the business with an anniversary tribute at Lincoln Center last fall. The author of 'Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen' is now old enough to be her grandfather. Anyway, in case you missed it -- and we're pretty sure you did -- ol' Neil will have an encore of sorts a little later this year when he turns up as the latest oral fixation of the current generation of youth. At least that's the hope of Tooth Tunes, the company that instills good dental-hygiene habits with musical toothbrushes. The latest Tooth Tunes line will feature a special remix of Sedaka's 'Breaking Up Is Hard to Do,' reimagined for little pop idols as 'Waking Up Is Hard to Do.'
Since the youngest and oldest among us share a tendency toward toothlessness, Tooth Tunes will also unveil a Junior line for pre-Tooth Fairy molars, including 'Hakuna Matata' and the Transformers theme. And fans of Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers can chew on new titles from their favorites.
But the trend in "Denta-Mandibular" oral care seems to be growing, shall we say, a little long in the tooth. Joining such Tooth Tunes hall-of-famers as Kiss and the Village People will be the guys from Devo, who have contributed a version of their timeless, adult-themed hit 'Whip It' redone as (wait for it) ... 'Brush It.'
So that's what they've meant all these years by "de-evolution."
