Sheryl Crow to Join Fleetwood Mac

Move over, Stevie: Sheryl Crow is planning to join Fleetwood Mac.
"We definitely have plans for collaborating in the future, and we'll see what happens," Crow tells Spinner. As to when fans might hear those collaborations, she says, "I think that's going to be next year."
And what songs would she ideally like to perform onstage with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham? "I'd love to do 'The Chain' and 'Second Hand News,'" she says. "There's so many great songs that I absolutely love, and just to get to sing harmonies on them is going to be a thrill."
For Crow, who is just beginning to tour in support of her recently released 'Detours' album, the opportunity to join the legendary group (and fill the shoes of Christine McVie, who retired from touring in 1998), is a chance to work with her close friend Nicks. Perhaps more important, it will help keep the band alive, as Nicks had previously gone on record as saying she was unwilling to carry on Fleetwood Mac without McVie, who had been one of the constants of the often-evolving group since she joined in the early '70s.
According to Crow, Nicks has been a major influence in her life as an artist. "I love people that are not jaded or de-sensitized and that are still really into what they're doing and into growing as an artist, and that's her," Crow says. "She'd walk out and stand at the microphone, and I swear I was looking at a 20-year-old, because she just exudes this kind of sensual love for music."
Sheryl Crow's AOL Sessions performance, during which she broke the Fleetwood Mac news, will premiere April 11.

Hmmmmmm.......Sheryl Crow joins legendary band?!! I was kind of anticipating a classic triumph of sorts for this talented songstress: The Rollling Stones would've been a much better fit!! With her vocal abilities to belt it out and simmer it down, she's one helluva classic rock artist. A move to a true classic rockin group might've pleased us. Heck, this news is kind of like Brittney Spears joining CSNY. PUHLEASE!!!!!

Sheryl Crow and Fleetwood Mac together on one stage - wow, I han hardly contain my excitement (TOTAL SARCASM). Just what the entertainment world needs, two has-beens trying to recapture their former glory by pooling their limited resources. In Fleetwood's defense, at least they HAD oodles of talent, it's just too bad thy squandered it away on blow and sexual liasons with each other. Sheryl, on the other hand is a displaced hippie chick tryign to restart the 60's movement. It (like her career) is DEAD - long live the movement (NOT!)

I'm not a Sheryl Crow fan and I love Fleetwood Mac. Oh no!!

Well, Sheryl's okay in her own right, I guess, even though she now seems to think herself some activist...I wish her luck, but Christine McVie, she's not. No one could fill McVie's shoes, and certainly not Crow...she lacks the smoky huskiness and the passion that was Christine's trademark. There are times when some things just shouldn't be tampered with, and the sound of Fleetwood Mac is one of them. Oh, well...guess they have other ideas.

Hey janet renos baby shut up you suck. Jealous moron, you probably couldn't carry a tune if it had a handle. If you don't like her music don't listen, it's that easy. Sheryl's music is good and she's hot.

I wish instead the announcement was that the ORIGINAL Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer was getting together and going to tour. They were the best of the British Blues Bands and Green the best British blues guitarist even over Eric Clapton for 1967-1970.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about Sheryl Crow. She'd go to the opening of an envelope. I don't understand the attraction. She's a mediocre talent who's had good luck in making the right connections. That's all. There are numerous other musicians/singers out there who are more deserving of a recording contract than she.

I first saw Fleetwood Mac 28 years ago. Up til that point I had pretty much ignored Christine.
I was changed that night, I can't imagine Sheryl Crow coming anywhere near the beauty that is Christine McVie singing Songbird. Good Luck, Sheryl.
