On This Date in 1998: 'Gettin' Jiggy Wit It,' by rapper turned actor Will Smith, takes over the No. 1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.The Almanac Advises for March 14: "Using the current jargon is a sure way to mark how 'hip' or 'with it' you are to your peers. One pitfall of a reliance on slang terminology is that those words run the risk of appearing outdated in the future."
