On This Date in 1973: The BBC bans all teenybopper acts when a riot breaks out after David Cassidy's performance on 'Top of the Pops.'The Almanac Advises for March 21: "Certain forms of music, such as the more aggressive strains of punk rock or hardcore, carry with them a tendency toward violence. Keeping this belligerence in check is not only the responsibility of the fans themselves but that of the performing artist and the venue's management as well."
