Foxboro Hot Tubs -- the not-so-secret side project of punk giants Green Day -- have posted a new song, 'The Pedestrian,' on their MySpace (www.myspace.com/foxborohottubs). The tune is culled from the band's upcoming 1960s-influenced album, 'Stop Drop and Roll', which is slated for release on April 29 via the Tubs' Warner Bros. imprint, Jingle Town Records.Meanwhile the FHT's first single, 'Mother Mary' has become quite popular at radio, recently hitting No. 16 on Billboard's Modern Rock survey. And for those curious about the group's moniker, it may be a nod to the upscale subdivision of Foxboro Heights, which isn't far from the more working class Rodeo, California where Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt grew up.
'Stop Drop and Roll' first appeared in its original incarnation as a six song digital EP available briefly last December for free via the official Foxboro Hot Tubs site. The songs, however, were pulled and replaced by the image of a clock. Now expanded to thirteen songs, two of the tracks from the FHT debut album, 'Mother Mary' and 'Highway 1,' were originally credited in the Warner/Chappell Music music publishing database to the members of Green Day, however that information has since been pulled.
This isn't the first time Green Day has operated under an alias. In November 2004, the group released 'Money Money 2020' under the nom de rock the Network.
