Nine Inch Nails Plot Extensive North American Tour

Nine Inch Nails' frontman Trent Reznor has announced plans to reform the band for an extensive North American tour in support of the band's recent 36-track instrumental album, 'Ghosts.' The group will kick off a six-week live run on July 25 with a performance at the Pemberton Festival in British Columbia .

"We are coming," Reznor proclaimed Thursday via nin.com. "Lots going on in the world of Nine Inch Nails ... Confirming a very poorly kept secret, the band has been reformed (details coming!) and we are about to embark on an extensive tour." According to Reznor, the aforementioned trek, which wraps at the Forum in Inglewood, California on September 6, is "the first wave of dates I can mention at this time," adding, "Many more to come!"

Nine Inch Nails -- which also counts Rob Sheridan, Atticus Ross and Alessandro Cortini -- made news earlier this month when it pulled in a cool $1.6 million in one week after releasing 'Ghosts' online on March 2. Fans were given the choice of downloading the album for free, buying an extended downloadable version in high-quality for $5 or ordering a copy on CD for $10. Two deluxe versions of the album were also made available. One version featuring a Blu-ray disc and book of photography was priced at $75, while another, limited to 2,500 copies at a cost of $300, completely sold out. 800,000 people either bought the album or downloaded it for free.

At the time, Reznor revealed he was surprised by the instrumental album's popularity. "First of all, a sincere THANK YOU for the response to Ghosts," he blogged. "We are all amazed at the reaction for what we assumed would be a quiet curiosity in the NIN catalog."
