Rock Almanac: March 31, 2008

On This Date in 1955: Angus Young, guitarist of Australian heavy-metal band AC/DC, is born in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Almanac Advises for March 31: "Though the U.K. and U.S. have enacted child labor laws in 1933 and 1938, respectively, the Australian state of New South Wales has yet to enact any significant law protecting school-age children in the workforce. The only exception is for minors employed in the entertainment industry."
