No Singer? No Problem! INXS
- Posted by Spinner
Old Singer: Michael HutchenceNew Singer: JD Fortune
OK, so it was inconsiderate of Hutchence to snuff his bandmates' careers along with his own life – but did that really give them the right to hire Justin Guarini Mark II to sully the late singer's image? Optimists could say that as reality shows go, the INXS model of 'Rock Star' could've turned out worse – with that pink-haired Amazon gal unearthing the 'Devil Inside.'

I think some of these bands who get another front man just to make a buck is sad and ridiculous. there are some front men u just cannot replace Michael Hutchence inxs freddy mercury Queen just to name two.

in a world of revolving doors, these eight care, respect, love and enjoy each other enough to endure at least 30 years in the presence of one another. they're BANDMATES. LIFERS. in it for the right reason! it could be about money, but i doubt it. these are quality bands and probably quality people or they'd have moved on from each other by now!
i watched the rock star INXS show. JD wasn't my choice, but i can't remember who was...the cd came out and i realized i was mistaken. the talent of these two bands is immense. though they've found replacements in different ways, both have every right to keep on keepin' on.
i saw inxs on the listen like thieves tour. they were terrific! michael was in rock star form. they were along with U2, two of THE best bands in the world in the 80's.
the 90's weren't as kind. michael's death was a rip-off to his family, friends and fans. the band used the years off to figure out where things had went off track. they figured it all out, found a new guy that could do the trick without turning the trick and successfully returned. it ain't about money if nobody's buying.......
I realize I am responding to an old site but after reading your comment I just had to tell you I agree with you... Michael simply can not be replaced. Also to the other person who responded to your post they do not seem to know much about INXS -if they did they would know that INXS did not take years off after Michael's death. Within months after Michaels passing they played in Austraila and less than a year after that they appeared on the reality Rock Star TV show. So much for respect for their mate. INXS is not INXS without Michael Hutchence... a couple of years have passed and I do not hear of INXS anymore at least in the US. INXS sold Michael out for money simple as that.

When Rock star came out I knew immediately JD would win. He has not replaced Michael, we all know if Michael had not passed, he would still be the frontman for INXS; however, things happen and INXS found the next best thing. JD Fortune is an amazing performer, respects and loves INXS and Michael, he is sexy and he is voice breath taking; INXS is still number 1!! And I cannot wait to see them again! I'm thinking they need to come out with with a CD of INXS classics performed by JD!!! I love you JD, Kirk, Andrew, Tim, Gary and, Jon!!! RIP Michael.

Need a strong spine to take on what he has and crowds love him. Round the world tours, cds, downloads 3 years later still full on, and NO baby mama drama. We'll keep him :)
April 06 2008 at 1:29 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI was among the INXS fans who at first was reluctant to see JD performing with the band. But once I listened to the album, I fell in love with it. And watching the clips (unfortunately I could never see them live) I can see he really fits in and that he's a great performer and cares for the show. Not only that, he's gracious to fans from what other people had told me. No need to be disrespectful to him!
April 03 2008 at 9:21 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOf course JD is not Michael, but he is not any step down in any measure. He is an excellent performer and has brought his self to each concert. Ozzies have also embraced JD and INXS again. Their 2 1/2 year sold out tour speaks volumes of how well JD fits in with INXS.
April 03 2008 at 11:46 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWow. Could you be more ignorant??
JD, while no Michael, is a great addition to the band!
I think they've all been very respectful to Michael's memory. It's not like JD tries to mimic M's every move... he brings his own self to the table and gives classic INXS tunes a new life.
I, for one, am truly grateful to JD for being who he is. Honest and sexy and humble. (And I've actually met the man. Can you say the same?) I'm truly grateful to the rest of the band for being brave enough to go on.
I can't WAIT for their next album & tour!
jason is a great performer...shows how little you know about the band...
