A plane crash might've claimed the life of their frontman, but Skynyrd's Southern-fried survivalism simply refused to go down with him. They brought in Ronnie's brother Johnny to take over lead vocals – while wordlessly getting the message across that Ronnie could never be replaced by topping an unused mic stand onstage with one of the late singer's ubiquitous hats.
