On This Date in 1965: Frank Black, aka Black Francis, of the Pixies, is born Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV in Boston.

The Almanac Advises for April 6: "In Celtic mythology, pixies, in contrast to fairies, are consigned to walk the Earth forever, as they are neither good enough for heaven nor evil enough for hell. The tiny creatures, who leave a trail of pixie dust wherever they go, are known to be pranksters and traditionally play tricks on unsuspecting people."
