Norah Jones Chops Off Her Hair, Goes Indie

Norah Jones has two new matters of interest. First, her hair. Take a gander, folks. The second is Jones' new venture with Conor Oberst's indie label, Team Love, on which she'll release the self-titled debut album from her side-project, El Madmo, on May 20. Featuring Jones as guitarist/singer "Maddie," the trio also counts Daru Oda as bassist/singer "El" and Andrew Borger as drummer "Mo." Oda and Borger are veterans of Jones' backing group, the Handsome Band.

Despite being touted as Jones' secret punk band, tracks like the mellow 'The Best Part,' the lilting mid-tempo 'GGW' and the trippy jam 'Head in a Vise' should easily draw in Jones' conventional fans. Just the same, El Madmo's debut features aggressively titled tunes like 'Scary Lady,' 'Attack of the Rock People' and the finale, 'Rock Yer Balls Off.' Plus, that photo of Jones in a short blonde wig on the band's website (http://elmadmo.com/) is pretty rad.

"El Madmo offers escape, justice, karmic postulation, and that feeling you get when you know something that no one else does," Team Love promises. "Starting out as a garage band trapped in the basements of various hockey arenas, theirs is a powerful raw sound that could only be inspired by the smell of Zamboni fuel and sweaty skates."

You seem to be a great specialist in this sphere. At least what you write surely deserves attention. I'd like you to have a look at my creation rapidshare SE for ( http://rapidqueen.com ) and say what you really think about it. Thanks!

I think Nora looks great in her new style. The thing about hair is you can always grow it back. I had long hair most of my life, but when I reached middle age it had to go. I look younger and it is much easier. I agree with the woman who wrote as you get older long hair is not attractive. It weighs you down. Nora is not even middle aged, she is just young and hip and chic and unafraid to take a risk so BRAVO to you Nora keep it up!!! Do your thing!!!

Don't lump all us men together. I believe a womans hair style should be what she wants. I like long hair on a woman but this lady is beautiful either way. I have never heard her sing but wish her the best.

I HAPPEN TO HAVE HAIR THAT COMES TO THE BOTTOM OF MY BUTT CHEEKS NOW....IT GROWS LIKE WEEDS. I CUT IT AT CHIN LEVEL, DON'T PAY ATTENTION, AND SOON I'M SITTING ON IT AGAIN. SHORT HAIR IS SO MUCH EASIER TO WASH, DRY, BRUSH AND JUST WALK OUT THE DOOR WITH. HOWEVER, I WASH MINE, LET IT AIR DRY, AND BRUSH IT AFTER IT DRIES...WHEN I GET TO THE PLACE I'M GOING TO. I JET LET IT FALL DOWN NATURALLY, DON'T FUSS WITH IT, DYE IT, OR STYLE IT. IT'S JUST HAIR FOR PETE'S SAKE AND REGARDLESS OF LENGTH, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING GAY OR NOT. I'M NOT GAY, I'M JUST A HUMAN THAT HAS HAIR GROWING ON MY HEAD. WHY DO PEOPLE MAKE SUCH A BIG STINK OUT OF HAIR?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DON'T KNOW THIS GAL HERE, NEVER SAW HER IN LONG HAIR, BUT SHE LOOKS GOOD IN SHORT HAIR. NOW, IF SHE WAS BALD, LIKE BRITTNEY DID TO HERSELF, THIS MAY BE SOMETHING TO HOWL ABOUT. BUT THEN ALSO, LOTS OF MEN ARE BALD SO IF A WOMAN WANTS TO BE BALD TOO, SO BE IT. YOU NIT-PICKS DRIVE ME CRAZY...GRRRRRRRRRR.

clarification: who could be more "dykish" looking than rosie o'donnell, whose hair is NOT short at all? get off the hair stereotype. btw, i'm an out and proud lesbian, very feminine with SHORT hair.

i guess hair length must really matter to men - in the same way the length of men's hair and penises matter. as in - most bald men are not considered very strong or manly. Like short hair on women, baldness is UNFAIRLY associated with age and loss of vigor. needless to say, "size" does matter when it comes to men. so i guess stereotypes are all relative LOL

first of all "dike" is a bank that holds water back. if the idiot scrotes who don't know the difference between a "dike" and a "dyke", get it straight. in the meantime, pay attention: portia di rossi is lesbian and her hair is long; as was melissa etheridge's before chemo. who could be more "dykish" looking than rosie o'donnell, whose hair is short at all? get off the hair stereotype. btw, i'm an out and proud lesbian, very feminine with SHORT hair.
