On This Date in 1961: Bob Dylan makes his New York City debut performance at folk music club Gerdes' Folk City in Greenwich Village.The Almanac Advises for April 11: "When embarking on a new career, the keys to making a good impression include 1) going in with a positive attitude; 2) finding a mentor who can show you the ropes; 3) dressing in a manner that blends in with your colleagues; 4) networking with key people in your line of work; 5) avoiding polarizing conversation about topics such as politics and religion, as well as gossip."
