Motley Crue are ready to take the mantle of rock's hardest traveling package. The quartet of Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Mick Mars and Nikki Sixx gathered at L.A.'s Avalon on Tuesday to announce the inaugural Crue Fest, a summer tour that will also feature Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Sixx A.M. and Trapt. The tour, which kicks off July 1 in West Palm Beach, Flordia, and wraps August 31 in Pittsburgh, is being dubbed "the loudest show on earth." At the afternoon press conference, the Crue said they hope to enjoy similar success to their hard rock festival predecessor. "Hopefully this transpires into Ozzfest and goes on for years and years," Lee said.
As for the festival lineup, Sixx said all of the band's were chosen for one specific reason. "We look for bands that live the rock 'n' roll lifestyle."
The veteran rockers gave fans a preview of what they can expect this summer as they played the new single and title track to the upcoming album, 'Saints of Los Angeles.' "[This is] our summer of excess," Neil said. Would the Crue do it any other way?
