Rock Almanac: April 19, 2008

On This Date in 1986: 'Kiss,' by Prince and the Revolution, reaches No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. 'Manic Monday,' by the Bangles, written by Prince under the pen name Christopher, is the No. 2 single.

The Almanac Advises for April 19: "The term 'noblesse oblige' refers to the responsibility that the rich and powerful has to assist those of a lower social station. For example, a person of royalty may bestow a gift upon the less fortunate common people."
