On This Date in 1951: R&B singer and songwriter Luther Ronzoni Vandross is born in New York.

The Almanac Advises for April 20: "While pasta is a carbohydrate, it isn't fattening itself, being made of grains. It's what you put on the pasta that adds calories to it."
