I got this album hoping Weezer would redeem themselves from Make Believe. I was pleasently surprised. This is Weezers best album sense Pinkerton, hands down.

Starts out with "Troublemaker", a true rocker, though the lyrics leave something left for words. "The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived" is all over the map, but in a good way. I can listen to this song over and over. From Rock Rap to Queen, this song trips me out. It's weird,in true Weezer fassion. Pork and Beans is classic Weezer basically giving the middle finger to anyone who doesn;t like them. They don't care. "Heart Songs" kinda feels like a Ben Folds song. I love the Nirvana reference in this song. "Time to get Dangerous" is another rocker, but it feels more like a Red Hot Chili Pepper song than Weezer. I only got this album today, but I have listened to it 10 times already. This is going in my top 10 albums of the year so far.

So I just heard Weezer's Red Album. I have been a huge Weezer fan since.. forever and have followed the band through thick and thin (even forced myself to enjoy two songs off of their awful album Make Believe).

I think I'm done though. Here is one positive: "Heart Songs" grew on me as the song continued and I learned where Rivers was going with it. Took a while, but yeah, not too bad. "Everybody Get Dangerous" sounds like an awful blend of Chili Peppers/Aerosmith, 80s-90s pop rock. Its really bad. There are no other words for that. "Pork and Beans" was catchy, but the lyrics are awful, the music video? Funny, but only understandible by internet pop culture-ites. "Dreaming" finally sounds a bit more like Weezer, but even then, from the Maladriot era spliced with the poppy, upbeat sound from Make Believe. "Thought I Knew"? What the hell. Sounds like a Cheryl Crow song, which would have made it more enjoyable. "Cold Dark World" What the hell Rivers? What is going on with you wanting to rap? On a more positive note again, "The Angel and the One" is a fairly good song, in my opinion.

I'm sorry, but this is hands down the worst Weezer album they have ever created. I enjoyed Rivers' personal album a million times better than this crap. What happened to the Blue Album? Can we have a hint of expertise, sorrow, and brilliance that was Pinkerton? Hell, I'll even ease up a bit and request something remotely decent from the Green Album and Maladriot!

In conclusion, die-hard Weezer fans that were there from the start? Expect Weezer to continue to NOT give you what you want. There will never be another Blue Album, nor a Pinkerton. I recommend to use itunes for a few songs from this album, but save yourself $13.99 on a tank a of gas instead of buying the entire album.

Make Believe was a brilliant album. In particular these songs: Perfect Situation, This is Such a Pity, The Other Way, Freak Me Out and Haunt You Every Day. True the new album is more diverse, less commercial but you boogers dismissing Make Believe should be dismissed.

I liked the album. The point of it was not to make great number one hits, Weezer has never really been about that. Rather, it is a comment on the way music has changed since Weezer's Blue album. With hint's of rap, pop-rock, the whole youtube culture, etc. I think if you are listening to the album trying to find hit songs you're going to be disappointed. If you view the whole album in perspective of what their intentions were it is a good album that is hilarious, interesting, and with simple catchy tunes as heard on their blue album. Listen closely, I think the best albums are the one's that force you to listen and think. The ones that grow on you.

Its fucking horrible. The same type of sell out bullshit that was on their last album, only this time its worse since they're trying to be "FOR REAL" and get back to their roots. they should have stayed broken up. They just plain old suck now. The only people who like this shit are the same brain dead ignorant posers that watch mtv and listen to the radio. If you look at all the reviews, the only positive ones are from kids and mtv losers. no real music fans can stand this crock of poo. Weezer, you fucking suck! Rivers is into underage little girls (and probably little boys too). Yeah, that was big news back in the 90's, but the true weezer fans stayed true, holding out for the weezer we came to love. Its become apperant however that without Matt Sharp, weezer is nothing. LONG LIVE THE RENTALS!!!!

Okay guys.... Everyone needs to stop hoping for and expecting a Blue Album every time Weezer releases a new cd. In my opinion the only reason they have become "mediocre" is because people hold them to the standard of the Blue Album on every single release. News flash guys, Weezer is 40 now and they are obviously not the Stones. They are probably going to put out one more album after this and call it quits. So why can't we as fans just let them grown into their own and out of the dorky kids that we knew and loved on the Blue Album and Pinkerton? As for the Red Album, I think it is the best album they have released since Pinkerton.

Oh yeah, and anyone who thinks Matt Sharp was the only reason Weezer got popular is an idiot.
