I feel the emotion of genius? Are you kidding me .. it's not an emotion ... it's delusion.

The song on Shrek Halleluia is a hit and also the one he sings on Bareback Mountain.

Rufus you are a freaking genious but you are not supposed to toot your own horn. Thst is not genious. Rufus you are one of a kind. Best singer out there or one of the best. I love Rufus Wainwright.

Rufus really is talented but it saddens me that he is not humbled by his gift. I been in the industry a long time and maybe that is why noone has ever heard of me, because I actually appreciate people coming to my shows and taking out the time to buy my stuff.

Looks like a cheesy soap opera guy, can anyone name a hit song he has?

You'd think that nobody understood sarcasm here. Why are you getting your panties in a wad over a guy who's just being catty?

And, FYI, just because you haven't heard of him, it doesn't mean he's not some form of genius. Last time I checked, it wasn't notoriety that made someone brilliant.

If popularity determined genius, I think Einstein and Picasso would have been shit out of luck. You're a bunch of imbeciles.

I too feel sorry for people who cannot appreciate real talent and pity anyone who would bother to post comments about someone they claim never to have heard of, is there a point to that? Rufus Wainwright is a musical genius, has nothing to be modest about and if you truly have never heard of him you must a)walk around with your eyes and ears closed and b)not be much interested in music. There isn't an artist on the planet that can hold a candle to Rufus and I can't believe people have made such inane and unpleasant remarks about him over one ironic remark, taken out of context. Rufus is King!

Well Elton John called him 'the greatest songwriter on the planet, NME said he's 'the only living songwriting genius', Michael Stipe of R.E.M said 'he's up with Nina Simone', just a few endorsements by other musicians.

So all the of you who ask 'Who's Rufus?', I'm afraid that says more about you than Rufus.

He IS a musical genius, though when he says it about himself, it is in a joking way, typical of his funny, intelligent personality.

When all the current manufactured, packaged pop singers are long forgotten, Rufus' work will stand.

I feel sorry for people who are uable to apreciate real talent. You are the losers.

if any people on here knew anything of Rufus, they'd know he says these things in a joking manner. If there was a soundbite of him saying this, there was probably a laught afterwards.

For the record...popularity has NOTHING to do with talent. And I think he has exceeded many members of his family with fame. Obviously, if you think he rides his "daddy's coat tails, you have never even heard his music.
