Rock Almanac: May 2, 2008

On This Date in 1979: Kenney Jones, the former drummer of the Small Faces, makes his debut as replacement of the late Keith Moon during a Who concert at London's Rainbow Theatre to mark the premiere of the film 'Quadrophenia.'

The Almanac Advises for May 2: "When a close-knit unit, such as an army platoon or a sports team, loses a member, the replacement is often placed under great pressure to measure up to his predecessor. That new member's unique contributions can often be overlooked."
