Spider Named After Legendary Rocker

Paul McCartney may be a Sir, but Neil Young is a spider. Um, take that?

Thanks to an East Carolina University biologist, Jason Bond, the legendary rocker now has the rare honor of having a spider named after him. Bond -- a devoted Young fan -- discovered a new species of arachnid and named the trapdoor spider 'Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi.' "There are rather strict rules about how you name a new species," the biologist said in a statement this weekend. "As long as these rules are followed you can give a new species just about any name you please."

"With regards to Neil Young," the ECU biologist continued, "I really enjoy his music and have had a great appreciation of him as an activist for peace and justice." The new species of spider was discovered by Bond last year in Jefferson County, Alabama.
