I'm From Barcelona Frontman Says Band Isn't a Band

Trying to count how many people are onstage at an I'm From Barcelona concert is a daunting task. We lose track at 10, when we run out of fingers. "My band before this was a three-piece," ringleader Emanuel Lundgren tells Spinner. "But I like chaos. When it's a Warsaw onstage, I'm happy."Even after we counted more than 20 people at a recent show, members came and went, while others stood in the background offering only backing vocals. "There are no official members because this is not a band," Lundgren says. "It's a bunch of friends. It shifts from 25 to 30 people. It's the same people usually, but we have to change it around because everybody has a day job. We just do this because we love music."
Even though it may not be a "band" per-se, Lundgren is still clearly the leader and the sole songwriter. "I would love to write songs with other people, but I guess I have to find my Lennon or McCartney in order to do that," he says. "It's hard because it's like writing a book with 30 people -- no one has done that." He stops and ponders for a moment before concluding with a grin: "Maybe the next record will have 30 writers on the songs. That would be cool."
It could be cool, but of course, we don't actually believe him. After all, he's not even from Barcelona. None of them are.
