Pearl Jam, the Foo Fighters and the Flaming Lips will each perform at the forthcoming VH1 Rock Honors tribute to the Who. The event, which will also boast a performance by surviving Who members Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, will be held July 12 at Los Angeles ' Pauley Pavilion. The show will air July 17.Tickets for the gig will go on sale Friday, June 6 to members of the Who's 'Wholigans' fan club. Should any remain, they can be had by the general public on June 8. Proceeds will benefit such charities as the Teenage Cancer Trust, which the Who have long supported, VH1's Save the Music Foundation, the Double O Charity and VH1 Classic Rock Autism.
Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder has been an outspoken fan of the Who for much of his career, going so far as to once say, "I should be sending Pete Townshend cards for Father's Day." Pearl Jam covered the Who's 1973 classic 'Love Reign O'er Me' for the 2007 Adam Sandler film, appropriately titled 'Reign Over Me.'
