On This Date in 1969: The Who release their two-disc rock opera 'Tommy.'

The Almanac Advises for May 23: "Due to their unique circumstances, those who are both deaf and blind need special attention to bring them out of their isolation. In today's technological age, though, there are many devices that can bridge the deaf-blind to the world at large, taking into account their sense of touch."
