On This Date in 1996: Sublime frontman Brad Nowell dies of a heroin overdose weeks before the release of their third album, which proceeds to goes multiplatinum.

The Almanac Advises for May 25: "Many people choose to remember a departed loved one by acquiring a keepsake of the deceased that they can refer to at times of loss and despair."
