What's That Song in the Heineken Premium Light Ad?

'It's Love,' by Chris Knox

If you happen to be transported to New Zealand and bump into the singer-songwriter Chris Knox, you may want to bop him over the head with a green bottle. That's because his inane, chirpy little Casiotone-ish ditty 'It's Love' has embedded itself into your skin like a thousand chiggers, thanks to those incessant Heineken ads.

From the marketer's standpoint, it's earning its money and then some, jingle-wise. "I need yooouuu," the Kiwi drones. "I need you every single day and I want yooouuu..." It's enough (it's la-la-la-la-la-la) to drive a man to drink, and you can guess what the brand will be, since we can't think of anything else right now.

The camera follows a global relay of stereotypes, passing along Heinies like olive branches. Things get a little hinky when the chick in the sleeveless dress strides through the snow toward the Grizzly Adams type, who lets out a creepy guffaw. Also on the disturbing side is the ballerina entering a sauna-ful of leering geezers.

"Share the Good," reads the tag line. Depends on your definition of "good."
