On This Date in 1963: 'It's My Party,' by Lesley Gore, reaches the No. 1 spot on the Billboard singles chart.The Almanac Advises for June 1: "One of the most difficult decisions a candidate for a political party's nomination can make is when to end the campaign. To prolong the campaign may do damage to the leading competitor for the party's nomination in the general election, for example."
