hi there! I did some digging on Wikipedia not too long ago about this Sukiyaki song. and it turns out that the guy that did it was like a one hit wonder. he died in a plane crash about 20 something years ago. I've heard the original song too (even though I have never been to Japan). it IS really a beautiful song! but I can't understand any of the lyrics because I don't understand Japanese!!

Actually it's a beautiful song in the original

Here's the disgusting part...they were up against true musical legends The Cars, Elvis Costello, Chris Rea, and Toto. C'mon, these trite two-hit wonders actually managed to snag an award over Elvis Costello? Elvis Fucking Costello!!! Wise up Grammys! The need to make A Taste of Honey give their award back like they did to Milli Vanilli...

August 13 2008 at 9:53 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyCan you read? They tell you what sukiyaki is in the last sentence. It's a "hot beef preparation" (there's actually more to it, but if you want to know more, look it up at Wiki).
