'Promises, Promises' (No. 11, 1983)

This duo's 1983 cover of the beloved Burt Bacharach/Hal David standard set the blueprint for their smooth brand of weepy synthpop. Unfortunately, the competition for running-mascara hits was pretty stiff in 1983, and after barely missing the Top Ten with the more maudlin 'Promises' the British duo sulked off into eternity.

People People come on now, As the descrip of this
list goes. "The band or Artists may have had another
song or two that briefly made it in to the top 40
but are mostly know for there 2 biggest hits"

I surely thought they had 2 or 3 more hits after promises,but I might be mistaken I did always like always something to remind me.

Sorry, folks, but the group had TWO MORE HITS.
The #37 single, "When the Lights Go Out" (which entered the Top 40 about a month after "Promises Promises" fell out) and the #39 single, "(What) In the Name of Love" (which charted in the fall of 1984).
