If the thought of outspoken and socially conscious M.I.A. playing a Target- and Converse-sponsored MTV Movie Awards post party last Sunday seems contradictory to her fans, relax -- the Sri Lankan musician let everyone know her values are firmly in tact.

Halfway through her set, M.I.A. informed the invite-only audience that she was supposed to be in Canada but she took the MTV gig because she was getting paid a cool $100,000 for the 30 or so minutes. As to what she was doing with the money, "$50,000 builds a school in Liberia for a thousand kids," she said.

Oprah would be proud.
