"Governments are the cancer of civilization. Government and culture are two diametrically opposed forces."--Chuck D

The Public Enemy MC and self-proclaimed "raptivist" waxed political in a recent interview.

I think I can stand more behind the second line.
The first one about it being a cancer depends on what it really does for your country, who does it, and who it benefits.

All I can say is don't make the mistake of blaming every last downside of your life or anyone elses on the white man, you know? Just saying.

Could Chuck D sound like any more of a COMMIE?
Maybe he should take the next train to Russia.

Chuck D a "commie" I don't think so, what he is, is a hedonistic anarchist who would like to run around like a wild animal with no restraint what so ever. Then he and his "homies" could morph into the sleazy, ignorant, immoral pieces of human feces they are.

Communism is the ultimate government in which everything is owned, controlled and disbursed by the State. We have a knack in the US to call everyone with a different philosophy a "commie". Just think about that. How long it has been since this subliminal instruction was placed in the public's mind and it still comes up.

In the question of Government vs. Culture it really depends on the way an specific government behaves with its people. Usually, a government needs to protect the culture of the mayority. Sometimes even at the cost of banishing other cultures within. So, in some cases, government really is against some cultures while it protects others. One can say that Chuck D is correct in his opinion.

How could he be a commie, when he's putting down government??? Umm, communism requires government. And, it's actually no different than capitalism.

Read a book called "My Ismael" and you'll see Chuck D is 100% right about culture and government being diametrically opposed forces.

Read "The Revolution: A Manifesto" by Ron Paul, M.D., for a prescription for getting our governmental cancer under control. We do need a little bit of government to secure our rights from those who would like to oppress us. Any bigger than that, and yes, government quickly metastasizes into a cancerous growth that is eventually fatal. (Yes, these united States of America currently have a Federal cancer that will be terminal unless treated.)

I can't say that I agree or totally disagree with that statement. Everyone needs rules and regulations to live by, but sometimes it goes too far.

He's an idiot. He always has been. And if you don't like the government, there's a border to the North and one to the South. Go for it.

Oh, w-o-w. I'm so impressed. He knows words with 3 syllables. Nietzche is turning in the grave ... of course, mr Raptivist (sounds like a prehistoric creature) wouldn't know who that is. Who needs Nietzche anyway ... when we have this yo-yo, who is apparently "diametrically" opposed to intelligence.

A litte government goes a long way. Unfortunately they do not stay little and always grow and grow until they eventually overtake that which they were formed to protect. Similar to cancer but an inadequate reference. Hits close enough to the point to be considered relevent and intelligent.
