On This Date in 1962: The Beatles, with Pete Best on drums, audition for EMI producer George Martin. Martin offers the band a contract but expresses concern about Best's drumming skills.The Almanac Advises for June 6: "When interviewing for a position, it' is of great importance to present your best face. Any deficiencies in your presentation or background should be minimized."
