On This Date in 1963: Eighteen-year-old Brenda Lee, who has had 12 Top Ten hits so far in her career, receives her high school diploma from Hollywood Professional School.

The Almanac Advises for June 12: "The phenomenon known as 'peaking in high school' is when a student overachieves during his or her teen years. Oftentimes this leads to a diminished performance in college and/or adulthood, possibly from burnout."
