Rock Almanac: June 14, 2008

On This Date in 1961: Patsy Cline is almost killed in a head-on automobile collision in which she is thrown through the windshield. The impact causes her severe injuries and leaves her permanently scarred.

The Almanac Advises for June 14: "The chances of dying in an automobile accident are measured to be around 25 times greater than the chances of perishing in an airplane mishap if you travel the same distance by each conveyance."
