Rock Almanac: June 18, 2008

On This Date in 1977: During the chart reign of the Sex Pistols' anti-monarchy 'God Save the Queen' single, whose release coincided with Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee, Johnny Rotten is slashed by a group of men in London.

The Almanac Advises for June 18: "Royal subjects should always defer to Her Majesty by rising when she enters a room. She should first be addressed as 'Your Majesty,' then 'Ma'am' afterward. Men should bow their heads to her, women may curtsy."
