On This Date in 1975: Cher weds Gregg Allman; it was her second marriage and his third. They separated nine days later later, finally divorcing in 1978.

The Almanac Advises for June 30: "The divorce rate for second and third marriages is much higher than that of first-time wedded couples. Often couples repeat the mistakes of their first marriage; another factor is the relative comfort with divorcing, having been through it before."
