On This Date in 1995: George "Dr. Nick" Nichopoulos, Elvis Presley's personal physician, has his medical license permanently suspended for overprescribing pharmaceuticals to his patients.

The Almanac Advises for July 19: "If you are a health-care professional, such as a physician or pharmacist, be extremely careful to check the dosage of any drug prescribed to your patient. If you are a patient and you feel any adverse effects from your prescribed medicine, don't hesitate to have the dosage checked."
