On This Date in 1978: The film version of 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band,' featuring Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees in the title role, in which they performed the songs of the Beatles, is released.The Almanac Advises for July 24: "Beware when you buy counterfeit goods, even when you know you are purchasing a fake: Though these knockoffs may appear on the surface to be the same as the real item, these inferiors are usually of shoddy construction."
