Top 20 Worst Songs Ever: No. 12

'With Arms Wide Open'
--Creed (2000)

When even Fred Durst publicly makes fun of you, it's clear you've got a problem. This powerless ballad represents Creed in a nutshell -- the Eddie Vedder knockoff vocals, the bland nu-metal chorus, the ridiculously self-important video: It's like a sampler plate of hate.

He may be an ass, but this song was written about his unborn son.

This song might not have been groundbreakingly original but I agree w/you...not all rock has to be to make it good! This was a good song from a good band...not the greatest in the world but this song doesn't deserve to be on this list w/ the rest of this garbage. And I concur, Scott Stapp was a douche.

The only mistake that spinner made is not putting this song in the top 5. Creed and Nickelback may just be the worst two bands ever.

I love Creed! This is BS that 'With Arms Wide Open' is one a worst song list. Spinner does NOT know music. Their lists are shit.

Creed is NOT good music. It's corporate rock at its finest. It's grunge with none of the rawness and emotion.

Prashant, nicely put. You're unto something, even though I generally do like song. I like the melody and the lyrics more than the guy's voice; reminds me of the singer from Audioslave, I feel the same way there. It's almost like French Stewart from 3rd Rock - funny, but hearing him sing would make you wanna bang your head against the wall :) Pure and simple expression and meaningful lyrics isn't enough to make quality music... anymore

You messed up on this one.
Arms wide Open is a great song and will stand the test of time long after this blog has withered away!

Definitely , Creed is awful . But I always listen when they come on the radio . Listening to a Creed song is like looking at a car accident . It is horrible but you cannot stop staring .

On a related note , anyone ever hear Taylor Hawkin , the drummer from Foo Fighters , do his Scott Stapp impersonation .... funniest thing you will ever hear and dead on accurate .

Who is picking these songs? This is a great song. I am 47 and I love it, far better than "make love to a thug in da club" HOW STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is good music

Hearing Scott Stapp's voice could make an unborn child choke itself with an umbilical cord.

ok what is with this?????
you naming a lot of great songs, like "Achey Breaky Heart", "Hollaback Girl", now this.....what's next, "My heart will go on" by Celine Dion?????

i mean seriously...who is making this stuff up??
there are more rediculous songs like "I'm on luv wit a stripper"
i mean, the song title itself.
"Wit"?? what kind of grammar??
(no offense)
