Top 20 Worst Songs Ever: No. 19

'What's Up'
--4 Non Blondes (1993)

When grunge music started moving units back in the early '90s, this group showed up as the genre's angst-free, family-safe counterpoint. Even though frontwoman Linda Perry moved on to a successful career writing and producing songs for superstar artists, that doesn't make up for her cringe-worthy yodeling in her former band's only hit song.

this is the only song that doesn't deserves be ranked on this list. How could Spinner not rank the teen cheesy wave of the backstreet boys, n sync, etc, that takes away the credibility of this list

The production version was OK, but good lord, when she sang on MTV unplugged: I thought the neighbor's cat was in heat again.

wow... i do like this song... but have you heard some of the crap that has made radio air play... as a musician i can tell you confidently that my mediocre songwriting is better than half of whats on the radio but that doesnt mean it will ever hit regular radio mainstream airplay... it's not about talent in this business... it really is who you know... there is a band called return to forever made up of older mucisians that you would recognize from their work with other artists... but when this quartet of gentlemen takes the stage as they are... it is musical magick... electric dynamite... seriously what music should be... simply amazing... but very few people actually know this band... but they know santana(no disrespect)... many talented people release indepent recordings everyday... that will never be heard by the ear that didnt search for something new and original... i could only pray to be 1 of these unsung and unsigned heros... remembered by only the few that took the time to look with there ears through the soundwaves of time... (and before anyone says anything smart[word loosely used] i am well aware that the ears are not the organ of sight in the human body... it was a figure of speech moron)

WELL said! If one person is listening to YOUR music, then YOU are their ONLY music, at that moment. More is NOT always better, a few fans can be as good as the world. At least there will be less to turn on you!:)

obviously Linda Perry wrote this song for a reason.. and look what it did for people. She doesn't have to have a perfect voice in order for this song to impact the lives of people everywhere. Look what it did for Pink... i mean, the song is pure and genuine. It's a revolutionary song.

Why the hell aren't most of these song of TODAY. Here'
s a list that could beat ANY of the listed songs:
1) Ashley Simpson - 'You make me want to LA LA'
LA LA is not even a damn word or phrase in the English language and if you are speaking spanlish it mean feminine THE - so no matter what language the song LITERALLY has no meaning - you make me want to THE in spanglish - take your pic LMAO!
2) Aye Aye rap song (don't know the artist) - but you know what I am talking about. Another song that LITERALLY has no meaning and does not speak words and then they rhyme with an english word. And if you don't want to be with me bye bya bya - but yet these so called young 30 something experts are listing famous classic hits as all of the worst songs, before they were born and delivered from the womb. Do you think 'desert on a horse with no name' by America is worse than 'you make me want to la la' or the 'Aye Aye' songs, both which literally are made up words with no meaning at all!!! What kind of dumbass ranked these songs. America back in the early 1970s was being metaphoric with this to the retard that rank these songs, and it was not meant to be taken literally, but still if it were would still make more sense than today's music that makes up words that have no cmmunication or meaning whatsoever and thus are the worst of all time.
3) Womanizer - this song not only sucks in singing but the music is annoying. I cannot beleive this won an MTV Grammy and this is the one Kanye should have interrupted, despite he was such a jerk to Taylor Smith. Britney repeats the same word (title of song) over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and let's keep saying it until can find a four leaf clover while at it non-stop - now how much sense did my little rhyme make - sorry but the cynicism is necessary to get my point across. It goes from high to low and then back up. It is the most monotanous garbage I have heard in years, but yet the moron that ranks worst songs of all times takes classic hits one liners and judges a whole damn book song by like one word of the title of the cover, and none of the clasic hits are near as bad as most of the crap out there today.
4) Busta Rhymes has alot of crap you cannot understand anything and Lil Wayne.
5) Eminem songs he rhyme but has no topic on most of his sons. The trash rap of today 'Slim Shady' and other songs goes from vulgar personal attacks to talking about beating up an ex-girlfriend in the next line to robbing peopel to murdering police to raping young girls and you have the audacity to rate these songs worst songs of all time. How about just stick with the 21 century bulls_h_i_t talentless trash of today.
Let's take the metal bands that don't even rhyme in their music. and most of the pop today is far worse than any of these songs back in the days that at least were real music and had MEANING. Don't forget "save a horse ride a cowboy' from Big & Rich redneck country trash music - what the hell is he trying to say? doing a cowboy saves a horse or doing a horse saves a cowboy?

One of the top 20 songs of the 90's? Yes. One of the 20 worst songs of all time? Definitely, definitely not. This is a great song- whoever made this list is an idiot.
