MC Hammer did NOT introduce parachute pants to anyone. He is wearing HAREM pants. Parachute pants were made of nylon and were around in 1984, well before this song came out. I owned four pairs and many of my fellow college students also owned multiple pairs. In fact, by the time this song came out, no one wore parachute pants anymore. Parachute pants did NOT flare; they had what seemed like a dozen zippers with mini pockets all over.

As I stated before, MC Hammer wore harem pants, not parachute pants. Anyone with half a brain who was over 10 years old knew the difference.

To clarify the record, parachute pants were popular in the EARLY 80's, more around the Run DMC era. Hammer wore Hammer pants, not parachute pants. Parachute pants had all kinds of crazy zippers and pockets that didn't really serve any purpose. And I agree with most of the people who make all these lists. Music is a shared, yet personal experience. Good, Bad, who cares? My dad, a diehard doo wop fanatic loved Culture Club, MJ, and Prince. His reasoning, it makes you tap your feet.
