Christian Rapper's Got Beef With Sagging

He's clearly not afraid to expose himself. Dallas rapper Dooney Da Priest is relaunching his finger-wagging anthem 'Pull Your Pants Up' with the release of his album of the same name.

The Christian rapper's diatribe against the long-running saggy-jeans fad first drew attention last fall, when Da Priest (real name Duwayne Brown) turned Dallas deputy mayor pro tem Dwaine Caraway's "Anti-Sagging Pants Campaign" into an ill-fitting, gay-baiting rap.

"I think it's gay but some of y'all think it's cool/ Walking around showing your behind to other dudes," Dooney whooped. The sentiment landed him a buttload of media attention, including an appearance on 'Dr. Phil.'

For the album release, the offending reference has been changed ("I think it's rude"). Which is not to say the rapper is sidestepping controversy altogether. Saggin', he points out, "is the N-word spelled backwards."

Though the two men are not officially linked, Caraway, the Dallas pol, has said the anti-saggin' effort is about respect. "Who's to say what the generation that's looking at this generation will do after these guys?" he wonders.

Judging by his lyrics, Da Priest might have an idea: "Might as well walk around with your pants off." Which would truly be an anti-fashion statement.

and to the person who mentioned something about it starting in jail...yeah you're right but it didn't have anything to do with someone being big bubbas b**ch.
and who gives a fk how someone wears their hat. its theirs not yours.
all the social issues going on in the world and people have nothing better to do then attack the way people dress themselves!?
personally i'm more offended by how people are living, acting or what's coming out of their ignorant a** mouths than s**t like this.
    get a grip.
next thing you know someones gonna make a song dissing the homeless because their clothes are to raggedy.

I agree that every black man in sagging pants is not a homosexual or a criminal. But remember, when you become a man, you leave childish things behind.

I have one question. How can you drain that 20 foot jumper with your pants about to fall off? But seriously, how can anyone take you seriously when the first thing they notice about you is that 6 inches of your underwear is exposed? It is a sure fire way to insure that you do not advance beyond the drive-thru window in your employment.

I honestly must say that I cannot agree with the majority of the slanted and biased view points expressed surrounding low riding pants. As an African American teenager myself I have witnessed this fashion in my community on a daily basis, and can truly say it is nothing more than form of self expression. And, Because of its ties to a socially unacceptable lifestyle, it is made even more attractive to young people of all cultures and communities. Such as the rebellious leather jackets of the fifties and the free flowing clothes of the sixties. What makes this style any different? I am ashamed to see a man who calls him self a Christian ignorantly judge. It is not our duty in this country of so called tolerance and freedom to judge people at all and certainly not the way in which they choose to present them selves. I'm not saying it is always appropriate or acceptable however I am saying people have the right to choose their clothes and ultimately their path in life. Every culture brings with it its own style whether you embrace it or not is your own decision, but please do not disrespect the choices of others. Is every female who wears a short dress a whore? Is every teen that paints his or her nails black a depressed freak? Every black man in sagging pants is not a homosexual or a criminal. And any one who thinks so is disgustingly ignorant.

Thank you. That was the least ignorant/arrogant statement I have heard so far. So many people like to judge and hate things in order to feel superior or above other human beings. At the same time, they would rather argue about sagging pants in contrast to world hunger, corrupt politicians, unnecessary wars, and fatherless children. Maybe one day people will concern themselves with what is important and become better people other than spewing their nazi racist/homophobic speeches around.

Now that school is out for awhile, I'm seeing more and more young black juvies walking in the neighborhood , kids as young as 8 & 9 years old , with their pants belted BELOW their butts showing the neighborhood their underwear. It looks disgusting ! The only good thing about that so called disgusting fashion style, if the little boys in da hood are into the criminal lifestyle, they won't be able to run from the law with their pants down like that. They will fall flat on their faces and make it easier for the MAN to put the cuffs on them and then haul their little exposed black behinds off to Juvenile LockUp !

This is funny. I used to run a manual lathe (I made automobile pressure plates) and it had three operations all in a row so I was kind of going in a circle. Well, we hired this black temp worker to run the drills (for the balance holes). Well, every time I did a circle, his pants went lower and lower. I was like "what the hell?". Finally they went (and this is the GODS TRUTH) all the way down past his butt cheeks and I mean to his thighs and he had on a pair of red bikini skibbies. I looked over at a co-worker running another machine and she was making gagging faces! I had had enough so I went and got my boss and I told him he had to come and see something. When he rounded the corner (the guy was at this time leaning on the drill machine with his gross butt up in the air) and saw that, the look on his face was priceless! He was MAD as hell! He went up to the guy and asked him if this was how he conducted himself on all his jobs and asked him if he had lost his mind! The he told him to get his stuff and get out! What a complete and utter moron this idiot was! To ignorant to know that he made a fool out of himself!

It is about time that some intelligent, young man stood up and had a word to say about that disgusting, disrespectful practice that has gone on for far too long. While many in mainstream America harped that it was so-called "self-expression" I cringed at it. No self-respecting man would bare his behind to anyone, less known women. Black America has to step up and stand up. It it obvious to me that America goes as we as a people go. Thank you Da Priest for leading not only by the Word but also by example; that is the example of Jesus the Messiah. Now maybe Pastors across this vast contiguous mass of States will back you as one voice in GOD from behind the pulpit.

To show how stupid they are these idiots try to rob places while holding up their pants with one hand.then they have to hold their pants up while running from the crime.Every now and then you see them on the news with the police right hind them their pants down to their ankles and they look like a little kid trying to make it to the potty in time. You are not the sharpest knife in the drawer if you want to be a criminal but are to stupid to wear pants that fit . Well there you go now you know !!
