On This Date in 1958: Michael Joseph Jackson is born in Gary, Ind., to Katherine and Joseph Jackson.

The Almanac Advises for August 29: "It's the responsibility of the parents to ensure that their child grows up to become a well-rounded adult. Arrested development disorder can occur if the child is unable to deal appropriately with adult concerns and issues."
