It's hard to say no to a legend, even for press-shy Chris Martin. During a BBC interview, R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe asked the Coldplay frontman "Is it true?" to all the rumors that Coldplay were recording new music. Martin confirmed the heresay, saying the band had recorded an EP, titled 'Prospects March,' which will be released on December 26.Martin, joined by bandmate Will Champion, also told Stipe the band will release a new album in November of 2009 "to end the decade."
After that, however, Coldplay will disappear like an infamous villain. "We're gonna be 'Whoosh, where've they gone?'" Martin said. Just like ['Usual Suspects'] Keyser Soze."
The two bands have been friends for some time, with Stipe having given his full blessing to the UK chart-toppers. "For me, having been around for 28 years, doing this, I'm thrilled when a band like Coldplay come along," Stipe said. "I think, 'Great. Here are some contemporaries I respect what they do and they're really smart fun people, great people to be around and they're very close friends."
